Student Worker Assistant Needed for SouthBig Data Hub

Duties and Responsibilities:
The student workers will report primarily to the Program Coordinator and Co-Executive Director of the South Big Data Innovation Hub (South Hub).  The student workers will assist with outreach and marketing efforts for events as well as generate and update content for social media accounts and blogs.  The student workers will also have the ability and knowledge to edit audio and video clips for podcasts and videos.  The student workers will assist with simple data entry to help keep the organization’s database and program information current.  Students do not need to possess each skill but must have a combination of skillsets.
Specific Duties:
The student workers will:

  • Assist with social media management and creation of content for the SouthHub and IDEaS
  • Generate content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blogs, e-news, and website
  • Meet regularly with the Program Coordinator to receive feedback/changes, review upcoming events, assignments and communication strategies
  • Help manage databases and records through simple data entry into excel
  • Provide marketing assistance, including proofreading, copying, filing, data entry, paper trimming, adhesive spray mounting, sign making, pick-up/delivery of marketing items
  • Process and edit audio and video as needed for final use
  • Upload videos to shared server/file location where staff have access to videos
  • Post events to appropriate South Hub and IDEaS websites and other forums
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Strong keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Working knowledge of basic office equipment and machines
  • Polished interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate
  • Working knowledge of basic office equipment and machines
  • Experience with video editing software
  • Interest in marketing, advertising, mass communication, public relations, or other related field
