Technology and Social Media Internship with the International Human Trafficking Institute

SUMMARY

The International Human Trafficking Institute (IHTI) is a student-focused initiative of the Center for Civil and Human Rights—a 42,000 square foot facility in the heart of downtown Atlanta located at Pemberton Place, adjacent to Centennial Olympic Park, The World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium.  The Center is an engaging cultural attraction that connects The American Civil Rights Movement to today’s Global Human Rights Movements, and the IHTI seeks to connect and galvanize student groups locally and globally in the fight against human trafficking. ROLE

  • The IHTI digital media student intern reports directly to the IHTI Program Coordinator and will be responsible for assisting IHTI with specific digital media projects and goals while gaining valuable insights into the internal working of a social movement campaign. As a part of a student work study/course, the intern will work at the IHTI for a defined period while accomplishing a specific set of tasks

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor, update, edit, and post using WordPress
  • Regular management of IHTI social media accounts in a thoughtful fashion
  • Prepare and curate a variety of digital media for distribution to audiences
  • Provide basic content editing (perhaps also video post-production) services
  • Post various types of media to the IHTI website in appropriate formats
  • Carry out duties in a professional manner
  • Assist in gathering specific assigned information
  • Be responsible for general office duties as a part of assignment
  • Attend meetings and training programs as required to support job duties and/or self-development
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Skilled in use of  WordPress and social media applications and posting of Blogs
  • Student selected by IHTI program
  • Internship will last a designated period of time with a pre-determined set of objectives
  • Not to exceed 15 hours per week during the school semester. The intern will work at NCCHR
  • Student must have access to a laptop computer with appropriate software for student’s skill set
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, and have a passion for ending human trafficking
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work a variable schedule based upon the needs of the IHTI

IHIT is pleased to provide a stipend for this Internship- rate- $10.00 per hour – 15 hours each week.

    • The IHTI Research Associate student intern reports directly to the IHTI Program Coordinator and will be responsible for assisting IHTI with specific research  projects and goals while gaining valuable insights into the internal working of a social movement campaign. As a part of a student work study/course, the intern will work at the IHTI for a defined period while accomplishing a specific set of tasks

    • Execute the research plan as developed by the project Coordinator and Program Consultant
    • Regular management of IHTI member  profiles, survey design, distribution and analysis
    • Prepare and curate a variety of resource materials useful to student groups working to end Human Trafficking- theses may include audio, visual and print materials
    • Provide support for  program planning and execution of the semi- annual student convening Carry out duties in a professional manner
    • Assist in gathering specific assigned information
    • Be responsible for general office duties as a part of assignment
    • Attend meetings and training programs as required to support job duties and/or self-development
    • Perform other duties as assigned
