The IT Marketing & Communications Office is looking for a high performing Graphic Design Assistant. IT Marketing & Communications exists to strengthen the organizational influence and client engagement of Georgia Tech IT leveraging compelling marketing and communications. We see graphic design as visual storytelling that engages, informs, and inspires. We are looking for a highly creative graphic design assistant who can take conceptual ideas and create visual representations, both in print and electronic media. Our ideal candidate will have knowledge of current design software and skilled with every step of the design process from concept to the final deliverable. The graphic design assistant should be able to take direction from written or spoken ideas and convert them into a design that connects. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of Georgia Tech branding and marketing, with the ability to vary style and layouts depending on the project while maintaining consistency with the Institute’s visual identity.
The ideal candidate will:
• Work on a wide range of projects and media, using various computer software to visualize and develop innovative graphic designs that meet business goals
• Work independently and cooperatively on multiple projects with marketing team, meeting deadlines and budget constraints, and scheduling project implementation based on workload, which may include five or more simultaneous projects
• Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with multiple teams or clients for a wide range of materials that may include web pages, presentations, programming collateral, digital signage, internal communication, newsletters, and marketing materials
• Manage the design process of project material, understanding best practices for using a content management system
Requirements: Proficiency with design software, including Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, is required, as is proven experience with graphic design, with a portfolio of work. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Must be a current undergraduate student at Georgia Tech. Graphic Design, Art, Marketing, Journalism/Media, or Communications major preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with motion graphics and working knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and video editing/production skills. Photography experience is also a plus.
Hours: Must be available to work 10 hours/week during the school year. Additional hours may be possible during breaks and in the summer. Work hours are flexible, but must be scheduled during standard weekday business hours (between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday). This position will report directly to a student team leader under the supervision of the IT Marketing & Communications Director.
