Alumna, MS in Digital Media
Jessica Anderson
Spelman College :: Innovation Lab, Assistant Director
Her Bio from LinkedIn states:
“After helping found Spelman College’s Innovation Lab, I’ve been making installation art, talking with policymakers about digital art, and working with Georgia Tech’s Office of the Arts on digital communication strategy.

My partner and I recently made a generative art series by using the bioelectrical activity in plants to manipulate and animate computer graphics at the first annual Digital Naturalism Conference on the island of Koh Lon. We founded INTO OUTOF Studio to continue our collaborative artwork. We’ve recently worked with Fernbank Natural History Museum, re:imagine/ATL, and Eyedrum Gallery.

My master’s capstone project combines artificial intelligence + dance + a geodesic dome:

I practice rhetoric-driven design — I analyze the stories of a design and mold them to effectively articulate an intended message. I’m an English professor turned designer, so I can also do things like mentor colleagues, facilitate workshops and meetings, and innovate in a bureaucratic environment.

I value taking time to experiment with life, so my background and experiences are diverse — from hitchhiking through France to traveling the midwestern Native American powwow circuit — and that keeps my design thinking pluralistic. If you want to get really far-out: I can also asana, pranayama, + mudra with the best of them and recite some really long poems.”
